Perfect for when you want a flavorful warm drink, but don’t want to upset your tummy with coffee. I discovered London Fog Lattes a week ago and was instantly obsessed so I had to make my own tummy friendly recipe. Apologies if I’m way behind on this trend…
If you’re like me and don’t know what a London Fog Latte is, it is essentially earl grey tea + milk.
It was so nice to find a fun drink that didn’t involve coffee or chai (I love chai, but I don’t want it every time I get a drink). This London fog recipe is dairy free and refined-sugar free. If you want to skip the caffeine, choose a decaf earl grey.
You will need a frother for this recipe, as well as a tea infuser or empty tea bag. This is a super easy recipe and only takes a few minutes to make. It’s also a lot cheaper than going to a coffee shop, plus you get to decide the ingredients you use!
The following makes one latte:
- 2/3 cup water
- 2 tbsp loose leaf earl grey tea
- 1 tsp culinary lavender or loose leaf lavender tea
- 1/3 cup non-dairy milk
- 1 tsp vanilla (skip if milk already has vanilla in it)
- Optional: sweetener of choice
Heat up water (in microwave or on stovetop) and pour into a mug. There should be about an inch of room left on top for the milk. Add earl grey and lavender to a tea infuser/bag and put in water to steep for a couple minutes.
Meanwhile, pour milk and vanilla (& sweetener if you like your drinks sweet) into a microwave safe mug and heat for 45 seconds. Next, use a frother to make the milk frothy. Make sure there’s extra room in the mug so it doesn’t make a mess – I learned this the hard way.
Take out tea infuser from your first mug and then slowly pour the frothed milk on top. You can sprinkle some lavender or cinnamon on top for a little extra flavor / decor. Enjoy while still warm!
Omg, I am going to make this now. Never heard of this, so excited!
Hope you like it!
